The Hill

The short version

Privacy & terms

What we store

Your name, email address and password (stored as a one-way hash), an optional photo and home room, the match results entered for you, and anything you add: comments, photos, props, who you follow. Your email is used to sign in and to reset your password. It is never shown to other players or sold to anyone.

What's public

Your name, photo, home room, rating, match results and head-to-head records are visible to anyone, including people who aren't signed in. Photos and comments on a match are public too. Don't post anything you wouldn't want on a noticeboard in the room.

Scores entered for you

Anyone can enter a score for a match they played or watched, including for players who haven't signed up. If a profile exists in your name, you can claim it when you sign up. If a score is wrong, flag it: disputed scores don't count toward ratings.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from Edit profile. That removes your email, password, photo, comments, photos and follows. Match results stay on the record under your name because they are also your opponents' results, and your profile becomes one without an account. To remove a specific match or photo, use the delete or report controls on it, or email hello@thehill.social.

Ground rules

  • Enter real scores. Made-up scores get flagged and cost you trust.
  • Keep comments about the pool. Harassment gets removed and repeat offenders get removed with it.
  • Only add photos of people who are fine with being on here.
  • The Hill is run as a hobby project for the local pool community. Ratings are for fun and for fair games, not a guarantee of anything.
